Writing.

I have always been a writer. As a child, it was short stories and restaurant menus, then essays and a thesis. Since 2007, I’ve been writing for the web, starting with a personal food blog, and graduating to Product Copywriter at Yuppiechef. In 2016, after five years at Yuppiechef and the birth of my son, I decided to try out self-employment. Since then, I’ve written for many brands, companies, and agencies. Below are a few examples.

  • I work with Gone Digital on an ad hoc basis, writing articles and other content for their clients as need arises.

  • In 2019 I started working with the team at the South African-owned global brand, Snuza. With a short break over the COVID pandemic, I've written for them almost continually, creating the bulk of their blog content over these years.

  • Alongside the content strategy and management work I did with the Cullinan Digital team, I also wrote a lot.

  • Although the bulk of the work I did for Emma Hanly & Co was editing for TMI (The Media Image), I also wrote several articles for FourthRev.

  • Alongside planning and strategy, I also wrote a few pieces for the Essentially Natural blog. Each article was accompanied by a newsletter and social media captions.

Social media is more resource-heavy than many businesses realise, and I help relieve the burden for them. I specialise in social media campaigns with a purpose, leaving day-to-day comms for a dedicated social media manager.

Client

  • I worked with V-Tech (a veterinary compounding company) for about four months while they built a social and marketing team.

During that time, I created and executed several social media content strategies. This work included planning, writing, briefing designers, and publishing content over several months. Channels were a two Facebook pages (local & international) and a LinkedIn profile.

I also managed the 20 year anniversary video for V-Tech. This included scriptwriting and video management for 20 Years of V-Tech video.

  • SEO content editing for their client, TMI (The Media Image). Editing multiple articles per day for distribution across the web.

Emma Hanly & Co. is a fledgling collaborative of freelance consultants under the management of Emma Hanly.

  • I worked with the Yellow Door team for over a year to create social content for their client, Chinaherb, a South African company selling traditional Chinese medications.

I wrote most of their social content and ads for Instagram and Facebook from March 2023 to June 2024.
